Domestic violence is as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner.
Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person.
You will notice that the center, or hub, of the wheel is "Power and Control." This is at the very heart of this wheel because power and control are the reasons abusers choose to use violence and other tactics against their dating partners.
They want complete power over and control of their partners.
It does not discriminate and can happen to anyone in any relationship, whether it’s one that is casual and short-term or serious and monogamous.
